Scupper Sailing on The Chesapeake
GCH Redlion's Come Back Scupper CGC was bred by Jane Pappler and is co-owned by Jane and Gina. Scupper is our first real show dog and our foundation bitch. We couldn't have asked for a better starter dog for dog shows. In limited showing, she's had some exciting accomplishments. Among the most exciting: Best of Opposite Sex at the 2010 American Chesapeake Club's National Show Specialty and Best in Veteran Sweepstakes in an incredibly competitive collection of 34 veterans at the 2014 ACC National Specialty. Scupper was 10 years old when she received that last award. Scupper is always owner-handled by either Gina or Jane. We are very proud that she has produced some wonderful puppies with titles in conformation, obedience and hunt tests. And, her daughter, Schooner has several field trial completions and placements in derby competition.

Beautiful Ol' Girl Scupper
Ten years old in this photo and Scupper has truly only gotten better with age. Honestly, she makes me swoon every time I look at her. I give Jane Pappler a lot of credit for breeding dogs who age so beautifully. Scupper's father, CBISS Am/Can Ch Redlion's Short Fuse WD - Musch, was in top form at this same age when he won a Judge's Award of Merit at the 2003 American Chesapeake Club National Specialty Show.

Schooner
The morning after delivering pups, Schooner has the beautiful glow of motherhood. Schooner is Redlion's Weatherdeck Schooner**WD (Eng Show CH/Swedish CH Arnac Bay Ardent WD X GCH*Redlion's Come Back Scupper). Schooner is co-bred/co-owned by Jane Pappler and Gina. Schooner is a girl that was meant to work. She is not one who prefers a quiet life by the fire. Jane has handled her to a number of field trial completions and placements and got her started on her senior hunter title. Now, it's up to Gina to continue to train and see what this girl can accomplish.
Schooner in the Whelping Box
Schooner has had soulful eyes from the beginning. Just like her mama, Scupper.

Schooner - 2012 Field Trial Specialty
Schooner placed 2nd in the Derby at the American Chesapeake Club's 2012 Field Trial in Idaho. She was handled by co-breeder/co-owner Jane Pappler.

Eddy Camping on Ocracoke Island
Black Walnut Riptide's Eddy CD has been a game-changer for us…a dog who's transformed us into smarter dog people. He's a dog of great depth and charisma. And, everyone who meets him is impressed with how he connects with them. Eddy is a great obedience dog who loves to work and who thrives on teamwork. His only limitation is his novice handler (Gina), but he's been a patient and forgiving teacher. Eddy was bred by Greg Waltjen & Tierney O'Connell. His sire is CH Chestnut Hills Riptide TD and his dam is Chestnut Hills Chelsie.
Bo'sun Sailing on the Chesapeake
CH Weatherdeck's Boatswain CGC is Scupper's son, sired by GCH Sandbar's Stock Exxchange. Bo'sun is the first of Scupper's pups to earn his AKC show championship. We ultimately made the decision not to include Bo'sun in our breeding program, but we couldn't part with him as he is the glue that holds our pack together. He's a fun boy that was meant to be part of our family.
An Old Family Portrait
Our pack is a dynamic one that is always changing because of our rescue work. If you took a family portrait at any time, you'd be surprised to see who is part of the family. At the time this was taken, our pack consisted of (l to r) Eddy, Scupper, Savannah Chicken Eater (so named for the reason she came into rescue), and Bo'sun.
