Weatherdeck Chesapeake Bay Retrievers

For a number of years, Brutus has been part of our Retriever Demonstration Team at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's annual Oyster Fest. 

On his first birthday, Brutus was awarded Best in Puppy Sweepstakes and Winners Dog for a 5 point major at the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club. Picture here are Judges JoAnn Colvin (Breed) and Barbara Pepper (Sweepstakes). 

Floater is one of our Schooner and Jake puppies. Co-bred and Co-owned with Jane Pappler. Floater now lives with Jane in New Jersey.

Skipper spent his early years with his Swedish family in Brussels, but the family recently returned home to Sweden. He is an exceptionally sweet boy who has a very charmed life.

Skipper is one of Scupper's sons. A littermate to our Bo'sun. He has his mother's eyes for sure.

Ruby arrived in Saskatchewan while winter was still in full swing. This lucky girl went to an ideal home where she has a lifetime of hunting ahead of her.

On one of the coldest weekends in early 2015, Brutus was the last dog standing at the Maryland Sporting Dog Association shows for two days in a row. Brutus is a hunting dog that is only shows several weekends out of the year. Brutus was bred by Jane Pappler and Gina and was born and raised here at The Weatherdeck. His sire is UK Sh CH/Swedish CH Arnac Bay Ardent WD and his dam is our Scupper. He is a littermate to Schooner. Brutus is owned, trained, and hunted over by our friend, Richard Schauber.

Brutus has always shown great enthusiasm about water retrieves. His love of water is so strong that he has proven time and again that he is happy to enter frozen waters that stop other dogs at the bank.  Photo credit: Sue Worrall
