Welcome to Weatherdeck Chesapeakes. We are a very small, home-based hobby kennel in Maryland that breeds the occasional litter. We breed with the long-term well-being of the breed in mind and hope to preserve the heritage of this breed that can so easily go from the duck boat to the show ring and right back to the foot of your bed at the end of the day. Here at The Weatherdeck, our dogs are members of the family who are as devoted to our happiness as we are to theirs.

"Equally proficient on land and in the water, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever was developed along the Chesapeake Bay to hunt waterfowl under the most adverse weather and water conditions, often having to break ice during the course of many strenuous multiple retrieves. Frequently the Chesapeake must face wind, tide and long cold swims in its work. The breed's characteristics are specifically suited to enable the Chesapeake to function with ease, efficiency and endurance."
